  1. Well, the problem possibly is that the twigs was moving around in the wind, so that even the bit you wanted in focus is probably blurred.

    As it stands, I don’t think it works either.

    However, get out there again and try it on different shutter speeds and aperture and you might find you get what you were after.

    If you want to try blurring backgrounds, try photoing a statue against a building and blowing out the background to make the statue stand out. Aim for the facc of the model. That will give you more area to focus on. Then trying it on a smaller object might become easier.

  2. Another top tip.

    Get some shots of Statues at different apertures and see which ones stand out best for you.

    Then you take a deep breath and……….

    Go up to the hottest girl you know, tell them you have been practising your photos, show her the photos and ask her if you could try out some portrait shots with her. They do exactly what you have done with the Statues.
